We are unable to accept bookings on behalf of other practitioners, anyone wishing to attend must have their own registered account. Information about each course will also be circulated through the email mailing list as usual.

Guidance about the target groups can be found via the download link below. If you think a course is basic in relation to your experience and seniority, it is important to note that regular refresher and update training is essential for all Groups working with Children and Families in a Safeguarding context.

Course Objectives:
Delegates will be able to:

  • Explain Camden early help to a child, family or other professional
  • Explain what happens when someone is worried and rings the Camden Children and Families Contact Service
  • Understand where early help sits on the threshold of need and its difference to safeguarding
  • Increased knowledge of the range of early help services available in Camden
  • Reflect on what you can do to help a Camden family who might benefit from early help

Course Details:

FREE course for professionals to gain awareness, knowledge and skills regarding young people and gender identity and sexual orientation.

A course to support professionals to increase confidence and skills to work effectively with young people with a range of different experiences of gender identity and sexual orientations.

This course will cover key terminology describing gender and sexual orientation and explore the relationship between gender identity and sexuality.

Tickets are only available to professionals working with under 25s within the boroughs of Camden and Islington.

  • Explored key developmental milestones in early years
  • Considered strategies for working with families where there are developmental and/or abuse issues
  • Developed their knowledge about the impact of abuse on children from birth to five years

Course Objectives:
Delegates will be able to:

  • Considered how parents/carers can understand how to provide for their children in a way that meets their need for safety and protection
  • Gained an updated understanding of how children and young people are affected when they physically and/or sexually abused
  • Explored strategies to support children, young people and their families where physical or sexual abuse is a concern
  • Developed an awareness of current thinking and research and how to keep up to date with changes in practice in this area

Course Details:

FREE course for professionals to gain awareness, knowledge and skills regarding young people and sexual health.

A course designed to give professionals that are working with young people the skills, confidence and knowledge to be able to discuss sexual health and wellbeing in an honest, open and appropriate way.

This training is Part 1 of the C- Card (Come Correct) Training. If you would like to be a C-Card Practitioner, then please also register for Part 2 on 18th June.

Tickets are only available to professionals working with under 25s within the boroughs of Camden and Islington.

  • Explored strategies to support children, young people and their families through effective multi-agency working together

Course Description/Objectives:

This course is run by a CEOP trained Ambassador (i.e. a professional who has completed our Ambassador training course). The Thinkuknow Introduction course provides an overview of; the CEOP Command, the Thinkuknow education programme, new technologies and how children and young people use them, the main risks associated with these online environments, and how the Thinkuknow education resources respond to these risks.

All delegates will need to attend the first 3 hours of the course order to receive the CEOP certificate. The afternoon will include an optional hands on session.

Course Details:

FREE course for professionals to gain knowledge and skills to be able to distribute condoms in Camden and/or Islington.

This course will train participants to become C-Card (Come Correct) practitioners. Following on practitioners will be able to distribute condoms to young people aged 13-24 in Camden and Islington.

Please note that participants must have attended Part 1 (Introduction to talking to young people about sexual health).

Tickets are only available to professionals working with under 25s within the boroughs of Camden and Islington.

Course Objectives:
Participants will gain:

  • Up-to-date knowledge about the role and responsibilities of the safeguarding lead
  • An understanding of legislation and statutory guidance
  • Confidence in judging when it is appropriate to make referrals to statutory services
  • Work effectively with other agencies

Date: 17th July 2019 — 10.00am-1.00pm
Trainer: FWD Substance Misuse Service
Closing Date: 16th July 2019

Course Objectives:

  • For professionals to feel confident in identifying and screening (using the DUST tool) for substance misuse with young people
  • For professionals to feel confident in making referrals to FWD services using the DUST tool and filling it out correctly
  • For professionals to develop a basic understanding of substances and abuse and what leads young people to use and abuse of substances
  • Talking to young people confidently about their use

Course Details:

A course to explore statistics and trends, types of relationships and values.

Participants will explore how to discuss healthy relationships, consent and will also learn about activities that can be used with young people.
